Why is it important?

Measured Content Pacing

• Most importantly – it allows us to achieve something we call “measured content pacing”
  • This means that we are very careful not to display too much content for a user to digest at any given moment on the screen.
  • As much as possible, we want to make the content “bite sized” through the use of layout.
  • This is one of the key reasons why we created the SHMUPT in the first place – to service this bit of strategy

Maximized Use of Screen Real Estate

• It allows for maximized and creative use of screen real estate. Full screen layouts using a single column generally end up:
  • Looking awkward
  • Not reading well (the eye has to travel too much distance from the end of one line to the beginning of the next)

Most Bang for Your Buck

• In terms of templates, it gives you the most bang for your buck
• You can create a whole host of different attractive layouts in the context of “one” template

“Single Column with a Sidebar” Style Layouts Are for Your Grandpa

• Removes the need for a single column layout with a sidebar (blech… old-school)
